Everyday I am amazed at political events and then an article like this comes up. How far can a government and its laws intrude into a private life if no harm is done to another by the act considered illegal??

To answer your question ...
nearly 150 million people worldwide.
I'm willing to bet there's more, though.

Well, medical science has proven that the ingredients in marijuana retard the growth of tumors.
People who have to use medications for cancer are often nauseas from them, and the marijuana helps them keep food down, thus not starving from vomiting it up all the time.
But you can do the research yourself.
And you don't have to smoke it for it to be effective.
And if grown by a patient, it is hundreds of dollars cheaper per month than pharmaceuticals, and patients can easily and salely figure out their own dosages.

Yes, it does- my friend has a somewhat rare genetic disease where tumors grow on the tips of his nerve endings, and he smokes it all the time (he just does it- like normal "law breaking" pot smokers do...hehe) Anyhow, his father died from it, his sister has it and is deaf from it, and he still is doing "OK". He admits to his doctor that he smokes it and his doctor admits that that is probably what is prolonging his life.

to me what is so messed up is that they will let her do the oxycotin, oxycodone, xanax, valiums, methadone and about a thousand other drugs that are probably worse than the green. If they cant guarantee their tax revenue off the drug it wont be allowed.Anyhow smoke it anyway, or make it into a nice brownie whatever your flavor, happy st paddys day heres to the green!

Breath on your own time. Keep the government out of our personal lives. When I was in the Military (USMC) as a private
discipline was what made things work efficiently but as always there was some individual that would think for himself and get reprimanded because it wasn't legal under the UCMJ. Uniform Code of Military Justice. It got bad then worse when all you were allowed to do was work. Everything else was forbidden for one thing or another. In this case the 9th Circuit Court Judge displayed his ability to be ridged and not flexible. He appears to have forgotten that LIFE, LIBERTY and the pursuit of happiness was violated causing a GREATER HARM. Loss of life! Will he be prosecuted? Of course not, they are above the law. Hemp can make this country Middle East Almost Petroleum free but out government
chooses to use food(corn)which IS NOT ECONOMICAL because it costs more to make a gallon of alcohol than it does to produce a gallon of gasoline. This judge is clearly a yes man.

the bad thing about drug testing is that it mainly just catches the pot smokers and the people that do coc or crack can usually get away with it if they dont do it for a day or two before the test, so i know that it encourages some to do harder drugs.I think barbituates stay in your system the longest though, then weed.

I believe pot and PCP stay in there the longest.
Like, who runs around looking for PCP????
And whose business is it what I do on my weekends?
Random drug tests suck, especially when you are an honest citizen trying to make a living. Totally against it.
I do not smoke it now, but I am not denying that I have in my lifetime either. I am a proponent of it and my kids know that. My kids, to the best of my knowledge, have never tried it and I show them all the houses on the block they can get it from- reverse psychology- and if they do, I would prefer to be there when they do, so I know what they act like and look like when they are stoned.
Color me a horrendous parent. My kids are awesome. All three of them. Not perfect, but awesome. What more can we ask for?

This shows me just how incompetent our courts and government is, If I had a terminal illness I wouldn't give a crap what they say I would smoke it any way!
Pot should have been legalized in the 70's .
Think how much tax revenue it could create.
I have never seen or heard of any one going berserk because the smoked a joint!
But some people do when they get drunk not to mention killing people when they drive drunk!

I'm sick of the hypocrisy in America. Our own president abused COCAINE and ALCOHOL for years but people can't smoke a little pot. I'm moving to Canada.

I agree, thats why I decided many years ago to stand up and show them just who they are up against,I have tangled with many drug warriors, been threatened ,ridiculed and had attempted intimidation for speaking out.
I'm still here and they're not.All we have is our voice and our vote,I intend to use mine and they will just have to find another job.

Unfortunately we don't have a conservative government. Neither Dems or Reps are Conservative. We are moving towards Socialism, with every election. Eventually, they will be running your life for you because they think you are to stupid to run your own. Some jumps in this direction are bigger than others, Clinton was a big jump. Kennedy was a big jump.
I want to know what my country can do for me, not to me?

I don't advocate indiscriminate drug use, but when a doctor prescribes it, there should be no question by the state.
The Fed's are wrong on this one. MJ is a drug, one God has provided. One that grows almost anywhere and is almost impossible to control.
Prohibition does not work, never has, never will. It just makes the law breakers rich.

The Republican culture of death for profit kills again and again and again. Why would Republican Supreme Court judges allow anyone to live without paying drug manufacturers who finance the Republican Party?
That woman does not pay money to Republicans via drug companies, therefore they want her to die. Nothing new about this story. Pay Republican shakedowns, tolls and taxes or be killed.
