It seems that lately they're doing everything in their power to drive away their top users. I guess the community thing is good as long as the community doesn't have any power. Personally I'm staying away till they start treating their dedicated users with some respect.

yet another reason why the netscape model is the way to go. Even when some users were banned here (at least from the stories I've heard) the user was given warnings from staff, opportunities to reinstate, etc....

It sucks that this happened to you chrisek but I've seen the same pretty much inexplicable behavior here. I've gotten beyond my personal upset to a general sense of befuddlement at a business model that says (apparently) more users are attracted when popular posters are tossed. the fact that I'm nervous to even bring the subject up speaks volumes.

Not bobkats..he was banned 2 weeks after they said he "threatened the life of the president"...No warning..they tossed him, and of course he did no such thing!
He said he wanted to "hang Bush over his fireplace", so he offered $100 for someone to take a shot(of him) not at him ...

Sorry to hear about that chrisek, but I don't know what Digg is? But I do know that siddhu1983 and EvieVonTress had been removed from Netscape (something like what you went through?), too, despite being one of the top contributors on here.

I'd also like to mention that if anyone here wants to cancel their account with Netscape, it's going to show up that you were - "removed from the system for violating Terms Of Use" - which, to me, are two VERY different scenarios.

if you ever read the MICHAEL CRICHTON book JURASSIC PARK you will understand what digg is like.
the way the raptors behaved is the way diggers behave. a ravenous appetite that comments a story onto death. sometimes as many as 750 comments on one story in less than an hour!
of course it follows much the same ideological path as netscape does. that is too say to the left. certain url's are flagged for ideological purity and those that get past the censors are set opon by a pack of wolves.
at digg they have the power too actually erase an entire story (the diggers themselves) or to erase individual comments.
conseratives do not get a fair shake. that's beacuse
liberals insinctively flock to any open public forum to make sure they rule it. this goes directly to their core principal of gaining hegemonic control over all media and forums to control the dissemination of infomation and news.

We have modeled our world domination plan after Planton's mind control helmet in " Sponge Bob Squarepants the Movie" :-)

Too bad. Why don't you take this opportunity to get away from your computer and go out and get some sunshine.

a typo thats your argument? thats the best you've got? why does that not suprise me.......
preprogrammed people fresh from the factory(public schools) equipped with optional features such as the ability to read and write, luxury items like being able to copy and paste url's.
yet the manufacturer still can not or will not add features such as the ability to develope a single original thought.
do the world a favor and get reprogrammed. because right now, thinking down too your level is enough to cause a brain tumor.

CALLISTO, please. I didn't even NOTICE the word was misspelled, I just thought the use of the word "instinctive" with it's connotations of mindless compulsive behavior was amusing. It was an excellent word choice and as for your comments regarding the piranha-like nature of the Digg voters I am in absolute agreement. The viciousness of the comments makes it clear almost everyone there only bothers to open their yap to insult which makes the strings totally useless.

johnson, siddu is a nice guy. yet digg has tens of thounsands of bloggers. they to can not think for themselves and as such are very quick to point out the smallest mistakes of their superiors such as single key typos.
it must make them feel better about their own extra chromosome type stupidity and their inability to argue coherently. so they resort to what little they have left. which usually amounts to 'your a big fat stupid head' 'nanny nanny boo boo'. f@ckers probably had to go to spellcheck.com to find out how to spell instinctively.

Having Netscape post Threads about digg banning top contributors for not towing the line is like communists complaining that Nazi's are dictators!

Big deal so your a top 10 poster on digg, what?, you came here for sympithy or to see if you could get booted from here or mabey even the hopes that they would hire you as an anchor. the staff here booted their top ten posters and debaters, would you like some french cries with your happy meal?

He wasn't banned - he was quarantined - after submitting a story that was quite obviously spam. The submission was flagged by enough users as spam that his account was quarantined for five days.

That's because Digg commenters are too busy gleefully ripping each other's posts to give hoot one about what happens to any individual poster. Their "community" has grown much too large and thus has lost any real sense of community at all.

a lot of these "banned" instances (where the person actually just up and left because they were tired of the jerks who would jump into a thread and say c**p about the story and everyone on it, sink stories to be harrassing, etc) will keep continuing.
Nothing will change that until the site wakes up.
It sucks that so many of us are being pushed away by so few people. That kind of control is uncalled for, and should not be allowed to continue.
These are the reasons that I don't visit here as often as before. Try tr ust ser ve dot net (remove the spaces and make the dot a period)
