Net taxes could arrive by this fall »
Posted by: zaph22 1 year, 3 months agoState and local governments this week resumed a push to lobby Congress for far-reaching changes on two different fronts: gaining the ability to impose sales taxes on Net shopping, and being able to levy new monthly taxes on DSL and other connections. One senator is even predicting taxes on e-mail.

Well, if they are looking to find a way to change the popularity rating, they are going in the right direction. Cook the public for a couple of years and the course of the next election will be altered dramaticly.

You know, give-em enough rope and they will hang themselves.

The economy is doing well, lets put a clamp on it and start suffocating it to death just as they always do. I guess they Gotta have something to line their pockets with though.

OMFG, DSL finally comes down. Yet I don't see them talking about Cables Broadband. Seems that Cable has finally stepped over the line.
E-mails being taxed. I do not know about you. But Congress no longer has my support. They have wrote numerous bills lately that only screws us more. Trying to pass amnesty bills through back door committes. Now this.
I keep hearing about having a third party join. Well I have started a movement and it is no more Parties. Both sides wants to screw us. Well it is time to screw with them.
If they have a R or D after their name and you vote for them to be put back in Congress. You have no one to blame but yourself.

Good post zaph. We have no one to blame but ourselves. We continually fail to require our government (federal, state and local) to practice any fiscal responsibility so they are constantly seeking ways to bring more money into the government....that way they can spend more and garner more votes. We should remember that when it comes to taxes, the only one that profits is government (and those working for it). I strongly recommend that we all contact our senators and representatives and demand that they vote this down.

I am thinking about spyware and viruses
Who profits from this inconvenience? (anti-virus software guys?)
Our history has monetary value that is being traded
I am wondering how many people have disconnected their landlines?
Is there an industry that is more "Green" than Ebay?
The internet is a perfect opportunity to re-prove the concept of liberty.
If we allow industry to profit from our activities then they can convince the government that their intrusion can create revenue.
I am hollering at the moon and charging windmills.

How in the hell can you tax e-mails? Put a e-mail checker on firewalls?
Although, if the tax is based on consumption, then perhaps this is the way to get rid of spammers.
Think about it, if they don't pay the toll they can't send an e-mail from overseas. That'll shut a bunch of them down in a hurry.

I'm waiting for the govt to install a key logger via a browser to not only follow your every Internet move but to also tax every letter one types. How about a Penney a letter; that should solve the campaign contribution issue the govt seems to have and also help fund homeland security also.

If Microsoft can do it, how long until the government is using it to tax us? And to use this new type of cookie in many other ways, that we may not like either, even more frightening ways. So you may not be waiting long.

All congress people who suport this idea should be voted out. Write and call them NOW! Tell them how you feel. AND keep it up on the Illegal Alian amnesty bill. They are getting swamped by us on that issue, but we MUST keep it up.
Here is Calif. some Pro-Illegal alian group has set up an 800 number to contact our Senators IN SPANISH!! There are now radio ads running on it!! They are getting hundreds of calls per day from illeagals, AND MILLIONS from us true Americans telling them in ENGLISH to stop this crap! It is hilarious... yoou can hardly get through!
