I doubt seriously if anyone is "getting a rise" out of the deaths of three people, whether in a church or elsewhere. What a shame that you believe that anyone would enjoy these deaths.

      My sympathy to the families.

Actually, no. Do you think for one moment that we think violence is justified for any reason? Give me a list of Atheists who have committed a violent crime. Go ahead a$$whole show me! Shall I give you a list of God fearing people who have committed crimes against humanity? Your religious beliefs are a pox on society. Organized religion is a disease and you are infected.

Careful. You should have added "in the West" or something to that effect. You can expect a religious person any moment now rhyming off Hitler, Stalin, Pot Pol, etc., even though Hitler was not an atheist. Atheists have committed their share of atrocities too, but I don't believe for a moment that their atheism had anything to do with it. Power is the great corrupter.

Judging from the rest of your diatribe, I'd say, actually, yes.

First off, many people claiming to be 'atheists' have killed people.

Second, there is really no such thing as 'atheists' because the truth is written on everyone's heart, that there is a God.

You can start with the Atheist leaders of the Soviet Union and China. Between them they have imprisoned and killed millions of people.

Well, we know every musslum and islamic is happy at the new of deaths as we are Americans , as to the shooting its self, its deplorable the only thing i can think of is he didn't like the serman . you know people go to church to be up lifted , but more times then not they have to hear how they are dirty rotten sinners on the fast track to hell in a hand basket , or how they are to give all thier money to the church . nothing like useing God to Scam the people like Jim Jones ,Jim Baketr and Davy corish . maybe the shooter thought this was one of those times ???? who knows what the real reason is or was . we all should have a moment of prayer for the dead n wounded , and a prayer for the shooter that God at least migh forgive him because we can not

I'm always saddened by the senseless loss of life, it does not matter if it is in a church or on a highway by a drunken driver. As for bringing in other religions or people and saying they would be overjoyed by the loss of life, I believe that is a mistake. There are some cruel and evil people in the world but they can be anyone, even your Christian neigbour.

Something that always bothers me about stories like this is how the press plays it up so much because it happened in a church. As for the families of the victims, the wounded, and the shooter, I will pray for all of them.

You are right, why should somebody be happy or throw a party for some innocent people's death? People will celebrate that if a mass murderer is killed or died a violent death because it is human nature.

" 9 mm semiautomatic MACHINE pistol with a large magazine" Hmmm... "machine pistol"... it looks like AP writer John Ford is getting a little inventive in his writing of this sad story. But I am sure he is not trying to mislead people. Are is he?

I stand corrected. I was irritated that comfortstrike thought that we would get some pleasure out of this tragedy because it happened in a church.

If people hate God they hate those who love Him, because we are His body for His spirit. All I hear and read are hateful revengeful murderous blasphemous comments against God , so why would it be wrong for me to think you would feel the same way for his children.

comfortstrike: "If people hate God they hate those who love Him"

For your information, atheists don't hate God. How can you hate a non-entity? Can you hate something that doesn't exist? God is simply a non-issue for atheists.

As far as their followers go (I think I can speak for all atheists, but I'm sure they'll correct me if they disagree), we have no reason to hate you for your faith, as we firmly believe that faith is a private matter, and anybody should be allowed to believe in anything they wish. It is only when you preach hate, start wars in the name of your religion, try to indoctrinate our children, try to demonize or suppress other religions, discriminate against people whose beliefs don't agree with yours that we have a bone to pick with you.
