i did not read the story however i find it hard to believe nobody commented.. if these are children how pitiful to spend your life in jail..

The US is among a tiny minority of countries (Somalia is another) that have refused to sign up to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child that expressly forbids the practice. According to Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, only three other countries - Israel, South Africa and Tanzania - mete out the sentence and they have collectively just 12 prisoners serving it.
Honestly, I find this very shocking. I can't believe that the State of Michigan will sentence 14 year old to life without parole.

We have more children in prison than all other countries combined. But, if they weren't prepared to spend the rest of their lives in jail, they should not have committed such heinous, horrible acts.
You reap what you sow.
Mistakes are fine. But they can also kill and ignorance of the law does not negate guilt.

I really don't believe so. I grew up without the desire to kill, hurt, destroy, damage, or steal property or people. I don't understand why these kids didn't.
I also think that their parents should be locked up with them. If someone is so screwed up that they are coldly murdering someone at the age of 14 or 15 or less, then the parent should be responsible for that murder as well. They should have to pay financial restitution and do some time too.
Hatred is taught, not born. Those kids learned how to do what they did from somewhere.
