Gen. Wesley Clark: Take Rush off Armed Forces Radio »
Posted by: bubba2 11 months agoTax dollars are used to fund Armed Forces Radio, and that money is not intended for radio show hosts to spout insults at our soldiers. These "phony soldiers" have simply exercised their right to free speech, as Rush Limbaugh does on a daily basis.

Clarks' official title is Former General Clark. He is not a current general and use of that title (General) is inappropriate.
If the "General" is so upset with El Rushbo, why doesn't he propose a vote by the soldiers? Isn't that the most fair and equitable thing to do? Let active duty military vote on whether or not Rush stays.
The problem is that 75-85% of the soldier's would vote in Rush's favor and that would sorely embarass the "General" as well as Reid and Harkin.

Sorry, unless the military has changed, you apparently are extremely uninformed--his official title is NOT "Former General," are you some kind of idiot?
He's Gen Wesley Clark, (ret.). He is still a full general, not active, drawing a near full paycheck.
I suggest you read a book sometime.
Also, it's a good thing you're around, why have any kind of a vote when you so clearly know what the outcome will be? We could just ask you and save all that messy expense of having a poll or an election.
As for a vote as to whether the impotent Rush stays, that isn't up to GIs, nor is it up to the lying wh0remonger drug addict Limbaugh, it's up to the radio station putting him on. Of course, since his show is free, it's likely to stay unless people actually start complaining about it--which isn't likely because they're too busy trying to stay alive to bother.

Last week, Rush Limbaugh labeled any American soldier who supports an end to the war in Iraq as "phony." We challenged Limbaugh through an email campaign to invite VoteVets.org's Jon Soltz to his show and repeat these same insults to an Iraq war veteran's face. Over 10,000 people responded and emailed Rush -- but to our disappointment, he has refused to respond to our request.
During the first hour of the October 1 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, in response to a Media Matters for America item documenting his recent description of service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq as "phony soldiers,"
My challenge for MediaMaters, Gen. Wesley Clark and IVAW
Show me the quote of Rush Limbaugh, that says "service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq are phony soldiers"

Not interpretations, not inference, not we think this means. Show me the ACTUAL WORDS IN CONTEXT where Rush say's "service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq are phony soldiers"
IVAW, the ones who made Jesse Macbeth "THEIR" poster boy for service members who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. Show me the VERIFIED proof that the service members you provide are ACTUALLY REAL service members who ACTUALLY served in IRAQ and ACTUALLY witnessed the "things" they claim.
It is the responsibility of those the making the claims need to provide the "proof" to back up those claims.
IVAW, your word and honor is only as good as your reputations. You blew it with Jesse Macbeth it's an up hill battle for you now. I can not give you the benefit of the doubt, you lost that with Jesse Macbeth.

Amazing that you are so psychic that you already know how all of the active-duty soldiers think.
That being the case, maybe you should also ask them how they feel about the pathetic VA system that makes them wait months (if not years) for paperwork shuffling and decision-making on disability claims. And, also ask them what they think about the military discharging tens of thousands of them with a 'personality disorder' which negates ALL of their VA and veterans benefits.
Clark is a General, just like Schwartzkof and any other general, retired or not.

Indeed. Eisenhower had to petition Congress to take his commission away in order to run for president, and then, after his terms were over, had to petition Congress again to be reinstated. He is indeed a general officer with all the influence of any general officer--and is subject to recall at any time.

Well the good general ought to know. Hey the conservatives have beaten the left upside the head with that moveon.org debacle and thank God there's Rush "Oxycontin" Limbaugh for the left to lean on. He always comes through in a pinch

I'll see lib criticism of Rush and raise 'em Dick Durbin's comments on the military, followed by his pathetic attempt at an apology on the Senate floor, where he should be serving as a floor mat.

As for the VA, a doctor who interned in a VA hospital while Max Cleland was running the VA told me that under Cleland, care went from bad to worse: wards handled near-death patients like hot potatoes. At the very time of their lives when they needed stability the most, these vets were passed from ward to ward as clerks and managers tried to avoid the paperwork triggered by death. Not saying this gets Repubs off the hook, but just saying our vets loose regardless of who's in the White House. And that will always suck.

It is true that the veterans care has always suffered to varying degrees and most of those degrees were bad.
But, don't forget the Walter Reed scandal last February.
Because of the Iraq and Afghanistan "wars", the numbers and severity of critical injuries have risen drastically. The PLANNERS of those "wars" - the current administration - did little to nothing to plan for, account for, and adequately manage this.
The current administration's MANTRA has been "support the troops" - yet, they themselves are the worst offenders of their own mantra.

Why do we listen to Rush. He only went one or two semesters in college then dropped out, he's not even a journalist!! He has never served in the military so why does he think he can comment on the soldiers. They have even more rights to comment on the war than most...they are the ones fighting it.
Has he even visited the soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan?
