Bush Administration Neo Cons prefers Americans disconnected and out of the loop, therefore as we ignore it, we become accomplices to this horrid reality in Iraq.

It's a terrible tragedy that Andrew's story is one in hundreds of thousands because of short-sighted greed on the part of a very few.

This testimony is really very tragic... About the same subject:I think that everyone must see the film of Paul Haggis: "In the valley of Elah" ( a story of a father who seeks her son soldier in Irak )

MichaelRhodente, why would you suggest that someone could be drunk to feel the loss of loved one or even a stranger to this war? What could you contribute to this submission other than pointless ridicule. Even if you did agree with this war, why can you not contribute in morning the loss of the people who died fighting in it?

Thanks for submitting this. I read it because it is important, though it pains me. One of my sons is still in Iraq. He has another six months to go.
Just the mere sight of Cheney and the sound of the Great Decider's voice turns my stomach.
Without cursing and screaming, it is difficult for me to express the anger that I feel towards this administration for what it has done to this world and our children.

Spadecaller,
As a father of three teenagers I empathize with you. None of my children are in Iraq, but every day I wish for this war to end so that not another son or daughter must die or another mother or father must morn.
It saddens me that there is a segment of America that is so disconnected from the realities of war. They seem to think that these brave men and women are protecting our freedoms. They can't seem to wrap their heads around the concept that they are being duped by the Great Liar and his band of propagandists.
May your son return safely to you and your family.

DarkWizard: Amen. And may Bush be awakened by the nightmares he has created. May the sleeplessness he causes others come home to roost. May his mind be invaded by the cries of wounded who seek solace. May the many who suffer cry out to him and cause him wonder. May he know the choices he and Cheney follow are the madness of greed. May he call home the troops and end the evil he started. May he finally know the truth of God.

Spade, I thank my lucky stars that despìte a long military tradition in our family (since the revolution), the younger members of our extended family understood the nature of the bush administration from the beginning and did not follow the family tradition. I hope your son finishes his six months safely (and that it doesn't become more).
Here are the young people that my family regards as the real heroes of american patriotism.

Ehren Watada
By Dahr Jamail
On Saturday night, I was lucky enough to be at the Veterans for Peace National Convention. For that night, Lt. Ehren Watada was able to give the following speech, which I've just received permission to post here. The speech was met with a powerful, standing ovation from the vets who've been there.
Lt. Ehren Watada, for those who don't already know, became the first commissioned officer to publicly refuse deployment to the unlawful war and occupation in Iraq. While doing this on June 22, 2006, Watada said, "As the order to take part in an illegal act is ultimately unlawful as well, I must refuse that order."...

not2needy,
I agree that no one should forget what this administration has done to America, its people, and to our allies and enemies in the name of "Patriotism." If this is patriotism it makes me sick because this administration has made patriotism synonymous with terrorism.
Indeed, it is good news to hear that every Democrat won on the ticket in your state. We need to hear more stories like this. It will give hope to those of us that know a change has to occur and take hope away from those that want to see more war and freedoms taken away.

Very good reference made to the war as viewed via television.Enter hyper-reality.A view in a vacuum. Enhanced imagery and edited life. There are to many armchair warriors these days.
