Posted by: lenseview 7 months, 2 weeks agoAlmost can't make this up. Bed Bath & Beyond was sued in a class action lawsuit for--no joke--misrepping the thread count of its sheets. Here's an open letter written to BB&D by a buyer of sheets who just received notice of suit & an offer to "benefit" from the settlement. Letter is funny, smart, captures silliness of it all.

In the home where I was raised "retail" was a word worse than "sh!t."

It starts with thread count. Then it's sheet color -- they say it's blue but it's really a shade lighter (e.g., light blue?) Then, it's dimensions. You think you're buying 72 X 72, but really it's 72 by 71 1/2. Before you know it you're happily walking out the store thinking you've got a full set of dinnerware for 12 but it's only a salad plate and a broken coffee cup...for one....

The complaint reads "April White, et al." I can hardly believe this is a class action suit. If someone has enough time in one day to count the number of threads vs. the number of yarns per square inch in bed linens, then someone needs to get a life. Can I sue McDonald's for not putting the proper weight of onions on my hamburgers when I receive them at the drive thru window? I count the onion pieces on each burger...sort of a compulsion of mine.

maybe the person who sued (April White, I guess, and not the writer of this pretty hilarious "response") actually bought a HUGE number of sheets, say for a high-end dormitory, we're talking defraud on the order of millions of thread counts.

I tried shopping here once. Gift for the ball and chain. While trying to figure things out "Fritzy" came up and recommended a number of Lilac bath oils he and his lover liked. Never went back.....
By the way, in the nut's letter, how would people know she didn't have the best bed sheets? Do visible tags hanging out like the tramp tats on the back?

Someone has way too much time on their hands.
Now dont get me wrong, if I bought something, only to find out that the company screwed me, Id be mad.
But to count the threads? I want some of whatever this person is on.

Oh boy, I see a major class action suit coming up by everybody who is on here. Consider the CPU in your computer, do you really think it is running a 1 to 4 Ghz. Take a look at the clock going in, it is only 33mhz. Oh No! A 7.5ns RAM can only run at 133Mhz if you allow no settling time. The DDR ram gets the 266Mhz spec by writing to two banks one on the top of the clock cycle one on the bottom edge. That sure sounds deceptive to me.

Amusing, yeah--but the thing is, why allow stores to misrepresent merchandise that you pay your hard-earned (or even easy earned) cash for?
I for one will tell my own B B & B horror story of not being ALLOWED TO LEAVE a branch store with merchandise that I had just bought, but for which I had (stupidly, it turned out) thrown away the receipt.
No near-register sign advised me that I would have to present my receipt to a door guard to get it out of the store.
The upshot? I was sent the items in question several days later after computer records had been searched to ascertain that I had in fact bought them.
Moral: don't shop at Bed Bath & Beyond.

My goodness, another greedy American trying to get something for nothing! All her reasons for suing are totally asinine! This is one of the reasons we pay more for goods and services. Ridiculous suits brought by ridiculous people. There should be a law that says if you file a frivolous lawsuit and you lose you pay all the legal costs. That would put a stop to this travesty. Instead of being funny though the whole episode in an indictment of too many people who try to gouge companies with these kinds of suits.
