    This is so sad.

With our own country throwing those that are trying to protect our borders in jail for doing their jobs, it makes other officers hesitate like this one did and end up dead.

Bush I hold you responsible and I hold all other politicians, both republican and democrat that won't address the border issue culpable as well.

I blame the courts most of all - The juries are instructed by the judge - and in the case of the two border agents in jail, evidently the jury felt that by shooting the smuggler in the back they agents were guilty.

I think the border agents should be able to shoot when they think they should, and be protected by the courts.

They shot him in the butt, in the side of the butt, as they 'claim' he turned with a weapon in his hand.

Now what's interesting in the conviction of the officers is the prosecutor 'Sutton' getting the Judge to now allow the evidence that the smuggler also smuggled drugs two times Sutton gave him a border pass to be a witness against the officers.

We here in Houston know all about it and the local talk radio shows have been hammering it home, that's the only reason there's a committee looking into Sutton's actions. Sutton is a long time friend of, guess who? GW Bush!!! W. has never wanted the border closed for whatever reason, you can guess,,,, I want these officers released, they were doing their job and they feared for their lives and reacted.

BTW, you as taxpayers not only paid for the trial but also the 5 million dollars they gave to the guy that was shot. Border 'politics' at it's best, I as a Texan am very tired of it all.

A great magazine to read is "Guns and Weapons of Law Enforcement". They usually have a section titled "It happened to me" in their mags. What it is is a section where officers write in and tell horror stories about their jobs. They also have great Massad Ayoob articles as well. One such article was about nine cases where innocent men went to jail for protecting themselves. One of the nine was about a business owner who had been robbed at gunpoint and shot. As the perp was fleeing the business man grabbed his gun and attempted to stop him. The man fired at him repeatedly over his shoulder as he fled. The business man fired one fatal shot and went to jail for murder because it hit the man in the shoulder.

It's a damn shame that we live in a society where criminals often have more rights and where good officers often end up in jail or dead for trying to protect us.
