An Army soldier who served as a military journalist in Afghanistan, Japan, and Europe announced Thursday his intent to refuse orders to deploy to Iraq. Chirioux is a victim of stop-loss, a controversial wartime power that the George W. Bush administration has used to keep soldiers from leaving the military when their term of service expires. Critics call the policy a "back-door draft".
If he was a "reporter" why would he be "stop-lossed"?
He's not part of a combat team, "stop-loss" when used is to keep a team together either just before or during a deployment. The reason is so that any "new guy" will have time to train with their team before being in combat.
That wouldn't apply to a reporter. I smell BS here!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop-loss_policy
Soldiers subjected to stop-loss orders are often those whose enlistment period ends during a combat tour or who are due to leave within 90 days of the scheduled start of a combat tour. Without the stop-loss policy, the Army would have to replace those soldiers with new ones who had not trained with the unit.

"Allow him to present to the American public the truth of what's happening in Iraq, unfiltered. Then we can judge for ourselves what horrors are taking place there."
Uhmm what's stopping him?
"the American public the truth"
How bout we first establish who this guy is. Name, Branch, Rank, Unit, C.O. S.NCO When he was in Iraq, where was he stationed and what was his MOS.
Next give us the signed legal statement of what crimes "things" he is talking about. Who what when and where, ya know FACTS that can be checked.
Then by all means we will have FULL coverage on ALL networks so that once and for all we will GET the TRUTH.
