It's always bizarre when employers asks you to do something that is completely unrelated to your job. But this really does take the cake. Otherwise its a story worth looking into a follow up for, as the sources are slim.

FTA: The paper did not mention the name of the company but the reformist Etemad newspaper said that the firm is the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Company -- which covers Iran's giant gas and petrochemical facilities on the shores of the Gulf.

I'm glad to see that at least some places in the world are doing something to encourage traditional family values...

How is getting married going to curb their sexual temptations?

That doesn't magically just happen, maybe they should invest in some porn instead.

As a Military Analyst, I was surprised to learn that a couple of friends who had picked up "stars," - one as Admiral the other as General - had to get married in order to get the promotions. This is not official policy, but it can end a career if a senior officer does not fit the "traditional" mold! While I agree with marriage, I am completely against modern societies putting pressure on people to marry or relinquish their careers!

Iran is an anti-modern society by choice and it doesn't surprise me at all that big business in a Muslim country (esp Iran) is making marriage a requirement for employment. IMO, that's the least of their warts.

I do understand what you are saying about the US military but I also understand why the military prefers a traditional "type" for higher ranking officers. They've seen what works and what doesn't. Much of the time, it's not so much people fitting the traditional mold, but being in the right place at the right time and taking a chance that can make them as easily as break them.

I may sound harsh, and this is only my opinion but this I come from the land of the free and anyone who enforces their religious opinions on others is a tyrant. so I think they are terrorists and should be bombed (we could use our stockpile of old missiles and bombs. I am against war, but I am more against stupid people. I think they're ruining things for everyone else and should all be exterminated before they cause a worldwide catastrophe. or maybe we could pray for them to have a fatal accident, and let God do the dirty work. that's just my opinion and I in know way endorse violence, but I find some things to be truly infuriating and sometimes see no other solution. God bless America

So you want to call them "terrorists" because of this policy. And you want to bomb them because of this policy? Who exactly are you wanting to bomb? The employees? And you call THEM terrorist? Please don't use the word "God" in your postings because you are the very antithesis of "godly". What exactly are "they" ruining? And the word "extermination"... is your last name Hitler perchance? You're disgusting.

If you respect coming from a free land, then you should want to endorse the same precedent for others, not bomb them because they don't conform to your ideals. *That*, my dear friend, is the definition of tyranny.

Since I'm against stupid people, too, does that give me permission to bomb you?

But in seriousness, to answer "infuriating" things with violence shows a completely infantile understanding of basic problem solving. How many times does violence end violence? Violence begets violence. No matter how many bombs you drop there will always be someone to come after you in revenge. The cycle continues until everyone is dead. I guess that's enough of a solution to our problems, though, isn't it?
