Now that is smart thinking but if I'm not mistaken it is against the law to destroy money so the recyclers could not accept them for that reason, you would need to melt them down first so they didn't know where it came from,,,,,say you may be on to something there,,,,,,,

I can understand that. But it's not really fair to the customers standing behind him in line, or the poor clerk who is probably just an employee making minimum wage. It would be really funny if the gas station manager could pay Exxon (or Shell or whoever) in pennies. That would be beautiful.

in canada, a store "can" refuse any more than 26c in pennies.
there are different amounts, for the different coins.
i took this in marketing, in high school.
it's for the expedience of service. go to the groc. line up and have the old blue hair in front of you pay in pennies for a $100.00 cart of stuff.
banks can refuse, if the coins are not rolled.
common sence has to take presidence.

Common sense tells us we should not be paying $1.40 a littre at the pumps when we have a ton of oil in this nation as well.. I'm sorry but I have very little sympathy for the oil comp making record profits, gouge them any way you can as long as you don't end up in jail I say.

That would defeat to point entirely wouldn't it? Years ago people would pay their taxes with bills soaked in urine or worse so that brought about the law where it's illegal to send urine or fecal mater in the mail. People are left with fewer and fewer ways to protest all the time, that's why people freak out and go postal so often now in my opinion.
