According to the Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek Bible
the "Holy Scriptures" translated the word "soul"
from the Hebrew "ne'phesh" or the Greek
word psy-kne' and the context usage refers
to both humans and animals.
Examples of this are:
Genesis 1:20-25 "God said 'let the waters
swarm of living souls'.."
Numbers 31:28 "one soul of humankind
and of flock.."
Revelation 16:3 "and every living soul died, yes
the things on the ground and in the sea.."

Hence, to understand "what is the soul?". the
Scripture usage also gives clues, that the SOUL
seems to be a "living" person or animal and the active
spirited "life" that these enjoy. In Genesis 2:7 "God ..
blew" into his nostrils the "breath of life and the man
BECAME A LIVING SOUL". Notice that it is not written
[anywhere in Scripture] that the man (Adam) was ever
GIVEN a soul, but that he BECAME a SOUL, a living person,
with all his traits, genetics, etc., of his vital being.

However, to many people, "SOUL" means just the "spirit"
part of a human only and to this "immaterial" portion
that survives the death of the physical body. Still
others believe it to be the "principle" of life.
But these latter views are not Bible teachings.
Peace

I think they have a soul. Why do you think dogs feel what's happening to their masters?

I think it's monsterous anyone could sink this. I just lost a gecko of mine 3 weeks ago, we'd only had her for 3 months but we were broken hearted over it. It still feels weird to think of her as gone, she was a sweety. I know some people will disagree with me, but I feel animals do have souls, and they wait for us in the afterlife, if you can believe in something like that.
