Google Shutting down Anti-Obama Websites? »
Posted By pc25 3 months, 1 week ago in NewsSure looks that way although the fault may lie with an organized attempt by Obama activists to silence blogs that disagree with their candidate. The key to the shutdowns is found in the corner of every Google "Blogspot"..........

Change you can believe in?.......the change will be to what you can say, think, or write, under an Obama administration
Bow, yield and worship at the altar of the mighty Obama.....
meanwhile I have it on good authority that this is now the Official Campaign Song for Barry Baby.....

It goes beyond just wanting to silence anyones critisism of Obama. THese people are lying to themselves since they don't want to listen to anything bad about Obama and they would rather not see the reality of the situation. How many times have you been called a racist when criticizing Obama?
It's all part of our mentality these days. If he calls himself a Democrat then he is good. If he calls himself a Republican then he is BAAADDDDD!!! Policy, character and integrity are not part of this election. What matters most is how well someone can give a speech and if they say the word "change" enough times. Anyone know what he will change?

The first thing China, or Fidel Castro, or Hugo Chavez did to hold power over the people is shut down the internet. Then they shut down unfriendly media (the Fairness doctrine), then they take the guns. If we had one more leftist on the Supreme Court we would have lost our second amendment rights last week. Can we really afford a Marxist President, and a leftist House, and Senate to do his bidding? I don't think so.

Your comment may be relevant if Google were running for president or were a government entity.

My suspicions about Google, while not confirmed, are certainly reinforced. Since this is a company and a system that precludes the availability of sites and sectors to bend to the will of the Chinese government, they certainly have it within their capacity to annoy conservative blogs and bloggers. No doubt they have statistical algorithms by which to guide such activity so as to not do anything in a way that would be statistically proveable should they ever land in court over it.

Funny for several years I have heard from several posters and people who work for this website. All of them said we are losing our rights to speak out freely. Yet, this site is still up and running. No one has tried to shut it down. No one has tried to silence it.
But, now, we have Google. Shutting out one group. This group happens to be on the right, since they are not supporting Obama. This is not the first time we have heard of such groups able to have something shut down. But, we are seeing the silencing of the right their words.
While we all know this is not right. Is this truly the lefts way of shutting out the competition? If it is, can we hear from those on the left that know that this is wrong come out and say something to that fact? Seriously you folks keep saying it is Bush and the right that wants to silence you. I am not seeing anyone on the right doing this. I see a company that has done this in China now doing it in the States.

I see the left not standing up and screaming their butts off about this. Is this what you want? When you get one persons site off the web. You silence them, when they come after you, will there be anyone to speak up for you?
Nope, free speech is that, free from being silence, whether you agree or not. You do not have the right to silence others, do not complain when they come after you next. Once one voice is silenced, all the others are up for grabs too.

What a brilliant reach... did you stay up all night thinking this up, or did it just come to you when you finished the bottle?

...much like virtually all conservatives, it seems. Ever seen Bush take any criticism whatsoever without going apesh!t, and getting all squity-eyed like he always does right before he's about to foist yet another gigantic lie on the American public? How about McCain--he's famous for it. Gee, they must all be Muslims, eh?

Sure have. He says people have a right to free speech and to express their opinions. What you are talking about sounds like pure fantasy between you narrow ears.

The new American limo-Liberal version of the Old Soviet apparatus of GlavLit( If anything was going to be published or printed in the old USSR the writing(s)/printing(s) had to be reviewed then sanctioned by this Dept of the peoples party. If they didn't like what was going to be written or published then the authors were usually executed.)
Is this the beginning of the end for freedom of speech in this country? I doubt it, because there are other search engines that service the Internet without prejudice to political search preferences and in some ways, they do a better search job than Google on other topics of interest.
However, I do find it darkly amusing that the liberal elitists want to shut down the opposition press, the vilified 'low brow' NeoCons and supporters, when they, the liberal elitists, consider such people an intellectual waste of time and therefore should offer no threat to those of superior knowledge and education.

The reason for my vote for this story has to do with freedom of speech, if google is shuting down anti-Obama sites with out reason that is of concern.
The problem is not so much freedom of speech as of freedom of expressing it, all media sources print stories based on their own ideas and most censor the content of their publications. Newspapers can refuse to print letters to the editor or letters that can inflame political issues so this does not shock me.

Well talk about socialism and fascism! Isn't this illegal in our country? Anti-Obama sites are allowed and legal. Yessir. More and more things like convince me that the liberals are hell bent on turning this country into a socialist nation.

Sounds like a coordinated effort by some grievously misguided Obama supporters. I'm an Obama supporter and find this sort of behavior disgusting. This is America and all voices should be heard.
As I understand it, if there are enough complaints about a site, there is an automatic mechanism to shut down access. The site is then reviewed by Google to see if the complaints are substantiated. Yes, it is a 'guilty until proven innocent' system, but keep in mind these sorts of hard core protective measures were put in place largely for the protection of children and to prevent the distribution of illegal content. Reviewing sites is time-consuming, particularly for a free service. Therefore is makes sense to err on the side of erroneously removing access to innocuous content than allowing really bad stuff to stay up longer while waiting for review.
