Iran Missile Test Bluff: Old Rockets, Bogus Video »
Posted By libsRfunny 3 months ago in NewsMany of Iran's claims related to missile tests during "Great Prophet III" war games -- appear to be smoke and mirrors! It was an older missile that was out of production, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE. And a video showing what appeared to be many missiles being fired -- is actually one missile, filmed from different angles!

I had read a story yesterday saying the picture provided by Iran had been altered, but not to this extent.
Looks like Iran is puffing its chest with no real substance. Classic example of saber-rattling and a big reason I mistrust many Middle Eastern news sources. Too many are owned or controlled by the state.
I'll be interested to read the NY Time story tomorrow.

Good move on Iran's part. Puff the chest up just as we're continuing our draw down in Iraq. Remembering what we did to Saddam, are they not thinking this through clearly? It only took us 3 months to deploy the force that took Saddam down. It won't take much longer to do the same to them. That plus there isn't another "Iran" next door who would supply weapons to the terrorists and insurgents. It would be over rather quickly. We've learned from past mistakes. Hit the enemy hard and continue until they simple are destroyed.

this story demonstrates why a clueless, inexperienced and naive politician as Obama should not be elected to the Presidency. His response to the reported Iranian missile tests was the following.......
http://sweetness-light.com/archive/obama-iran-m...
Obama: Iran Missiles Show Need For Talks
can you imagine what would happen in face to face talks with the Iranians......they would take the twinkies right out of his Spiderman lunch box........but that's ok he demonstrated to what's left of the world that he was such a great statesman that he was will to meet with the Iranians without preconditions.....
he jumps the gun EVERYTIME, puts the cart before the horse, starts shooting from the hip trying to look all Presidential and what is the result.........ANOTHER GAFFE........proving he knows nothing........but it sure sounds good and looks better.........

" "They've had this kind of long-range capability for some time," he told Lauer. "It's part of the reason why we've got to proceed aggressively with diplomacy in the region as a wholeâ;¦ We've basically been farming out diplomatic activity to the Europeansâ;¦ Part of what we have to do is get the Europeans, the Chinese, the Russians to recognize that it is in nobody's interests, including Iran's, I believe, to have a nuclear weapon that could trigger a nuclear arms race in the region. That's something that I intend to make a No. 1 priority when I'm in the White House." â;¦

They lack weaponry and a large armed force, but they have plenty of zealotry. That can account for a lot, especially in a guerilla-style campaign.
They are still not to be trifled with. Don't underestimate them.

That's not true. Iran has a rather large military complex. Because of sanctions, they've developed a rather impressive number of home designed weapons and systems. Their main battle, while untested officially in combat, apprears to be on an equal footing to many of the current main battle tanks from Germany, France, UK and Russia. The infantry weapons such as the AK47 are all the latest designs as is the hand held rockets. Transports are also rather advances for such a backward thinking nation. The one area they lack in is air power. They still have old F14's from the Shah's days but they've been buying Russian and Chinese fighters lately. Air power is their weakness.

Their Tomcats are block 90's, I would seriously doubt there "combat ready". No "parts have been made for the block 90's since 1980.
None of the avionics for the block 120's on are compatible with the block 90's.
Let alone the F-14 A plus to the supper D's.
If their smart they would have them rebuild with Russian parts. Even so it wouldn't be even close to a real Tomcat.

Isn't this the same ploy used by Saddam? Bragging about Missiles he didn't have? Is that like taking a knife to a gunfight?

Anyone who wants to fight a war in Iran has to certifiably nuts! The country has so many mountains it looks like somebody took three or four Switzerlands and jumbled them up together. You won't be able to use armor as it was used in the Iraqi desert, and you won't be able to move mechanized forces through the passes. Give me the manpower and the weaponry Iran has today, and I'll keep you tied up for the next twenty yours (or until you go bankrupt, whichever comes first).

We're in Afghanistan and have held our own. Iran will not be invaded by the US but it might have a huge series of air raids against it's military infrastructures. Taking out weapons factories, bases and labs will be the goal, if we have to do anything. I'm hoping this is a show of "strength" and they end up meeting the requirements of the international community.

Afghanistan doesn't have 80 million people. We do quite well against small terrorist units, even in the mountains, but we've not faced the kind of defense in depth that Iran can muster. If you want a comparison, look at the last two years we were in Korea, and fighting to take one ridge after another, inch by inch. We lost an average of three times as many men each week in Korea as we did in Vietnam. Frankly, the US Army doesn't have the personnel for such a war, and any politician who gets us involved there should be shot.

During WWII, the US and Britian leveled Dresden to the ground. Their weapons were considerably less sophisticated than they are now. Nuremburg was left in considerable rubble, as was Berlin and Munich. I don't need to mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki which were pretty much decimated by pretty crude nuclear bombs by today's standards. I don't think that Iran could really withstand a homefront ariel assault with real devastation in mind. The one thing that has changed in our concept of modern day warfare is the idea of collateral damage to civilians. In WWII, we just bombed until nothing was left standing irregardless of the death toll. If that same attitude resurfaced, then there isn't a country in the world that the US couldn't terrify completely. Our last three wars and all of the wars fought by Israel took the collateral damage concept into account. Just think of what the next war would be like if that weren't a consideration by the US or Israeli military.

And just to get it straight before you start to rebuff Oscar, in all of it's wars, Israel never bombed Damascus, Amman, Cairo or any other major Arab city just to inflict death on it's civilians. During the last war with Lebanon in 2006, Israel did damage the infrastructure considerably in Beirut, but the total war loss of civilian life was less than 900. Considerably minor by warfare standards. In comparison, Hezbollah fired thousands of rockets into Haifa with the explicit idea of inflicting as much damage on civilians and property as they could. Had it not been for Israel's civil defense system and shelters, thousands of Israelis would have been killed. If Israel took the same position in Lebanon as Hezbollah took in northern Israel, the death toll would have been astronomical since Lebanon has no real civil defense system. It wasn't, and that's a fact that can't be disputed.

"The current and prospective Republican leaders all seem to think it a good idea. Aww, He11, let's just NUKE 'em!"
Nuke em?
You haven't been paying attention lately have ya?
Think telephone pole size rod of say, Tungsten and what ever alloy, gently pushed out of the cargo bay of say, the space shuttle, on a low orbit run. Lets say with GPS guidance this "rod" enters the earths atmosphere by the time that rod hit the earth it would be going at a speed of say, hum, 35000 ft per sec/ 10 KPS / 7MPS, /Mach a whole lot, that will make a fine "how do you do" without any radiation!
This is part of our "environmentally friendly" weapons systems!
Were also no longer using lead in our bullets! Our bullets are lead free "environmentally friendly" isn't that great!
Oh we no longer use napalm, White phosphorus, we now use CO2 free Thermobaric's
Isn't that great

Oscar, it looks like you're the only sane dog in this fight. Well, here's something for the jingo beer belly scratchers to ponder...
Do you fatheads actually think that what's put up for "show" is the same stuff Iran would use for a real "go"? Since the Iran - Iraq war, Iran has had the opportunity to upgrade to some very sophisticated types of technology. Chinese Sunburn missiles and Russian built defense systems may not amount to invulnerability, but they pack a nasty punch. Who knows what additional upgrades they have at their disposal - and who knows if Russia and China wouldn't draw the line and get involved. Is Iran really worth the gamble? I suppose it is if you're a lard ass computer pilot with nothing better to do than swill Bud, visit online casinos, chase virtual T&A and dream of being the Hell Boys you never were - except in your dreams.

You've been listening to too many fear-mongering liberal talking points. The current administration is considering opening a diplomatic post in Iran. If Bush wanted to invade Iran, he would have done it long ago, and McCain has said nothing about going into Iran nor anyone else other than liberals preying upon your fears.

Look, stupid, Bush doesn't have enough men to handle Iraq and Afghanistan simultaneously. If he ordered the Generals to invade Iran, or if he had done so any time in the past five years, he'd have a full-scale revolt on his hands.

Bizarre behavior on Iran's part. Kind of like the bully who acts like he's going to punch you in the head, but, then starts combing his hair instead. The question I have is, is Iran trying to GET Israel, or, America, to attack it? And, if so, why? I'm thinking that Hezebola and Hamas would LOVE to fire those thousand of missiles they have at Tel Aviv, but, know that to do so would destroy THEIR victim-hood statis that they so love to play. Being so the case, we will probably see MORE "fist raising and then hair combing" BY Iran in the hopes that Israel will strike so Syria, Hezebola and Hamas can feel "justified" to to bring about the 12th Imam Ahmadinejad believes can only come back with IF there is a nuclear exchange with the West. According to Sahih Bukhari, the Jews rise up to kill the Muslims and the Muslims will be victorious to the point where a rock will blow the cover of a cowering Jew.

I don't think so. One has to realize that the declarations of Iranian leaders are made to impress first and foremost the Iranian public, NOT the Americans and NOT the Israelis. It's the Iranian masses who are made to believe that they're a great powerful and peaceful people living in a great powerful and peaceful country surrounded by aggressive enemies. The smart and wise Iranian leaders, however, will save Iran... but everything has a price and ordinary Iranians will have to make sacrifices...

Bizarre (by OUR standards), is not it?
Well, we have to recall that THEIR standards are different. THEY did it many times in the past. For example, Gamal Abdel Nasser did it in 1967 when he did everything in his abilities to provoke a war with Israel. Lebanon did it since the 1970s and continues doing it as we speak. Saddam did it. Taliban did it. Now the Iranian leaders are doing it.
Are they crazy? No, they're not. Their standards are different. They KNOW that WE value human lives (including THEIR lives) and they play this card using their own civilians as shields. THEY, on the other hand, do not value the lives of their own people, much less the lives of Israelis or Americans and THEY're proud of it.
In their culture of death and murder they call it "Jihada". They teach their children to seek death by mass murder of others.

If you take the time to look carefully it is obvious that it was only one rocket going up. The dust from the blast is the same for the ones you can see clearly. They don't know how to doctor the pictures very well.
